Engineering systems / field notes

The decisions behind the systems.

Follow a single engineering practice across different products. Each connection is grounded in a documented project decision, its context, and the trade-off it introduced.

One constraint, several systems.

Choose a lens to trace the decisions and trade-offs across the projects where it appears.

Make trust boundaries explicit: connected to 4 documented projects.

Project / 01 · Enterprise Web Platform

Samaale General Trading Co. Digital Headquarters

Constraint

Public buyer inquiries need bot protection without exposing email provider credentials.

Design choice

A Cloudflare Worker validates fields, verifies Turnstile, applies a KV rate limit, and then sends through Resend.

Trade-off

The contact boundary is explicit and protected; delivery depends on the Worker, KV, Turnstile, and email provider.

Project / 02 · Full-Stack Web Platform

Full-Stack Portfolio Platform

Constraint

Calendar booking and contact workflows call external services and handle visitor data.

Design choice

Separate server functions validate requests and keep provider credentials and booking tokens server-side.

Trade-off

The workflows have clear permissions and validation, while calendar and email operations depend on external services.

Project / 03 · Full-Stack Web App

Gabay Keeper

Constraint

Private archive entries must remain scoped to the signed-in owner.

Design choice

Firestore Security Rules check ownership at the data layer before allowing each document read or write.

Trade-off

Authorization does not rely on hidden UI controls; rules must stay aligned with the document model and sign-in state.

Project / 04 · Security Engineering

Cyber Attack Monitoring Dashboard

Constraint

Analyst lookups need third-party threat data without shipping API keys to the browser.

Design choice

Server routes validate lookup requests and proxy only the needed provider response to the dashboard.

Trade-off

Credentials stay behind the server boundary, with an additional server hop and provider quota dependency.
